The use of PFI and PPP deals to deliver transport projects looks secure after the Office of National Statistics ruled that they can continue to appear off balance sheet in the national accounts.
PPP/PFI schemes had been expected to come on balance sheet as a result of the ONS adopting new international financial reporting standards. But, instead, the ONS?has ruled that Government departments must prepare two sets of accounts – with the one used for national accounts unchanged.
