60,000 have signed up to Barclays Cycle Hire

In little under a month since the scheme began, Transport for London has revealed that 60,000 have signed up to the capital's cycle hire scheme and more than 250,000 journeys have been made using Barclays Cycle Hire since its launch on July 30.

On average scheme users are making around 15,000 journeys a day with August 19 the busiest day so far, with more than 16,700 journeys undertaken by the fleet of 5,000 cycle hire bikes.
