A trial of 30 hydrogen fuel-cell powered cars is due to begin in Leicester in the spring of 2012, according to the cars’ designer, the firm of Riversimple. The Riversimple fuel-cell vehicle, which uses an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity to power a motor, has a maximum speed of 50mph and a range on one tank of hydrogen of 240 miles.
