The DfT has launched a consultation on a combined Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise – the biggest franchise ever to be let.
The franchise is due to begin in September 2013 and will run for seven years with a possible two-year extension. Southern services will not become part of the franchise until July 2015.
