Trials are to get underway of running driverless vehicles on UK roads to test the impact on infrastructure, regulation and other road users (‘Come and test driverless vehicles on our roads, Government tells industry’ LTT 20 Feb).

The DfT distinguishes between “high automation – cars with a qualified driver who can take over control of the driverless car” and “full automation – vehicles where there is no need for a driver”.
