DCLG takes charge of off-street parking policy

Responsibility for off-street parking has been transferred from the Department for Transport (DfT) to the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), Prime Minister David Cameron announced on 12 March.

In a written statement, the prime minister said that DCLG would oversee Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 relating to the recovery of unpaid parking charges.

Responsibility for those aspects of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004...
