Merry Hill is a major regional shopping complex in the West Midlands owned by intu Properties and Queensland Investment Corporation. Every year over 23.5 million people are attracted to intu Merry Hill’s 220 stores, 40 places to eat, cinema and other attractions. The vast majority of shoppers arrive and depart via its 8,000 parking spaces.

One problematic area was the Purple Car Park, a three-level multi-storey. Some steel support beams, soffits and columns had become severely corroded...
