A government decision on whether to approve a new road tunnel under the Thames, the proposed Silvertown Tunnel, has been delayed by a month, to 10 November, due to concerns about the new tunnel’s impact on air quality in East London. Transport minister Paul Maynard said the delay would allow the DfT to consider the project’s environmental impacts.
