Converting the hard shoulder of the M8 motorway in Glasgow to a running lane for buses is under consideration in a Managed Motorways study.
The study follows the implementation of Managed Motorway principles over 13.7 miles of road approaching and crossing the Forth near Edinburgh. An Intelligent Transport System helps to regulate the flow of traffic – the first time such a system has been used in Scotland.
