Sefton Council on Merseyside has given up its legal fight against Highways England’s plan to build a road in a country park.
The three-mile dual carriageway would connect the port of Liverpool to the Switch Island junction of the M57 and M58, and pass through the Rimrose Valley Country Park. The new road would relieve the A5036.
