The number of trains using the proposed HS2 high-speed rail network could be cut and their speed reduced, in order to deliver the project within budget.
The options appear in a letter from Andrea Leadsom, the leader of the Commons and Conservative MP for South Northamptonshire, to HS2 Ltd chief executive Mark Thurston. The letter was sent following a presentation Thurston gave to the All-Party Parliamentary Rail Group in November.
