Transport for the North has shelved its vision for multi-modal, multi-operator account-based ticketing for the north of England after failing to persuade bus operators of its benefits.
The proposal was the third and final phase of TfN’s £150m DfT-funded integrated and smart ticketing programme. Phase one is focused on delivering a smartcard for rail travel and phase two on improving journey planning and fares information.
