Network Rail has completed the electrification of the Severn Tunnel, allowing electric trains to run all the way from Cardiff to London. The four-mile Severn Tunnel was wired long before electric trains to Cardiff commenced and the wires became coated in grime during three years without use. The damp conditions in the tunnel also corroded some components
