A 15-year roadmap for introducing connected and autonomous plant on road construction sites has been prepared by Highways England, TRL and the Infrastructure Industry Innovation Partnership. HE says the plant could save money, increase productivity, and reduce injuries. Highways England has already trialled the technologies – automated dump trucks were used on the recently-opened A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement in the East of England.
