Aberdeenshire Council has reported “mixed” views to a programme of temporary active travel measures that has included removing parking spaces in the town centres of Banchory, Ellon, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Peterhead, Turriff, and Stonehaven. “The response to these measures has been mixed,” said a report by officers. “While it is clear than many accept that there is a public health benefit to the measures, there has been extensive opposition to the proposals and in particular to the loss of on-street parking as this was the only way to provide the additional space required.” The measures have been implemented with a £310,000 grant from the Scottish Government’s Spaces for People fund.
