South Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has urged the Government to abandon smart motorways before their design causes more deaths and serious injuries.
“I call upon the minister and Highways England to abandon this type of smart motorway before we have more serious injuries or fatalities,” said Alan Billings after a serious accident involving a stationary vehicle on the M1 smart motorway in South Yorkshire.
