Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has decided to make a bus franchising scheme.
Under the plans prepared by Transport for Greater Manchester, franchising will be introduced in three phases, starting in January 2023 and completing in January 2025.
Said Burnham: “In Greater Manchester, we’ve always done things differently and now I’ve decided that we will be the first outside London to run our buses differently – under local control.”
