The government should consider scrapping the programme of new smart motorway schemes because of climate change targets and increased home working following Covid-19, the AA has said.
The AA’s comments came as Highways England (HE) published a progress report on delivering the Government’s £500m action plan to improve the safety of smart motorways (LTT 20 Mar 20).
