Sunderland business parking proposal shelved

Loss of green space concerned opponents of scheme

Plans for a new car park serving a business park in Sunderland have been cancelled. Sunderland City Council had formally submitted proposals for a new facility with space for up to 520 vehicles near the site at Doxford International Business Park in July last year. However, the scheme has been shelved following opposition over the loss of green space and concerns about a lack of future demand for the site in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
