Three years after the creation of the first Sub-national Transport Bodies (STB), and moves by two STBs to become statutory bodies, the DfT has confirmed that a partnership approach remains the route forward.
In guidance notes received by LTT, the DfT said the transport secretary will review and consider any future bids for statutory status. However, ministers have made clear that they see value in STBs as voluntary partnerships, focused on delivering their two core functions.
