A feasibility study is to be conducted on reopening the railway between Armagh and the Belfast to Dublin main line at Portadown. The 10-mile Armagh line closed in the 1950s but much of its trackbed still exists.

The local authority – Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council – will contribute £10,000 to match £50,000 from the Department for Infrastructure for the feasibility study, which follows on from a scoping study.
