14 October 2021

If you have a vision for how the UK's roads could work better for everyone in the future, the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund wants to hear about them.

You may receive a £5,000 grant to develop your vision of the ways our motorways, highways and streets as we face the challenges of the next 50 years.

The trustees of the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund are offering grants of £5,000 in the first phase – and up to a possible £150,000 in phase two – to encourage new and creative thinking about what road users, and society as a whole, expect from the roads of the future.

There are also cash prizes of up to £5,000 for schools.

The competition is free, easy and quick to enter.

Deadline: The competition closes at 17.00 on 22 October 2021.

There are no lengthy forms, no business cases to make, no pages of costings. All the Rees Jeffreys trustees are looking for are innovative and creative ideas. You can send your submission in any form you like, from a poem to video to a PDF.

Trustee Steve Gooding says: “William Rees Jeffreys was one of those rare people who could not only see into the future, but had the energy and knowledge to shape the way that future would play out. Facing today’s challenges, how would his foresight, and his imagination, have helped him see beyond the limits of today’s’ roads and today’s’ technology?

“And, more importantly, how will yours?”
