Welsh language speaker wins case over English-only parking fine

A parking company lost a civil case against a motorist over an unpaid £160 parking charge notice after they requested the details in Welsh rather than just in English.

Elysteg Llwyd Thomas from Dyffryn Nantlle in Gwynedd received a £60 parking charge notice (PCN) following a stay at Lligwy beach on Anglesey in August 2021.

The PCN was issued by Simple Intelligent Parking in English only. Thomas replied that she would be ready to pay once the company sent all correspondence...
