Electric car sales in the UK will increase to 440,000 in 2025, representing 24% of 1.84 million total new car sales, according to forecasts from EV leasing company DriveElectric.
This is a 4.4% increase compared to electric car sales equating to 19.6% of the total new car market in 2024 (381,970 units). New electric car registrations accounted for 31.0% of the market in December 2024 as manufacturers aimed to hit the government’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate target.
