TWO EXCLUSIVE MASTERCLASSES

5TH SEPTEMBER: BUILDING FOR BIKES: THE DUTCH APPROACH TO JUNCTION DESIGN

6TH SEPTEMBER: BUILDING FOR BIKES: THE DUTCH APPROACH TO ROUNDABOUT DESIGN

Brand new for Cycle County Active County 2019 Dutch transport consultancy Mobycon will show you the Dutch approach to building cycling infrastructure and creating the right environment to encourage levels of cycling in a city, leading to recognised benefits both in public health and in making transport more sustainable. Mobycon bring to the table over 30 years’ experience delivering cycling projects in the Netherlands and abroad.

Moving cyclists over junctions and roundabouts in a safe way is a vital component of a cycling city. At points where roads meet, and traffic can turn, pedestrians and people on bikes are particularly vulnerable. This three-hour session will take an in-depth look at the principles and ideas that make Dutch junctions safe for all.

These masterclasses include a hands-on activity, giving each participant the chance to put pen to paper and re-design an existing junction using Dutch best practice.

The masterclasses will be facilitated by Johan Diepens and Eveline de Jong. Lennart is Senior Advisor in the field of Urban Mobility and specialises in how to deploy Dutch best practice overseas. Mobility Advisor, Eveline, has expertise in infrastructure design in the Netherlands.
