The one-day conference will take place on Friday 29th September at Waltham Forest Assembly Hall and the Town Hall. The programme will include keynotes and thought leadership from internationally renowned experts in the fields of Healthy Streets. An essential mix of workshops and seminars will cover issues of street design, air quality, civilised streets and active travel.
Healthy Streets 2017 is the 4th in the series of events aimed at transforming the lives of those in towns and cities.
It began focussed exclusively on cycling, gradually evolving to include urban regeneration with Transforming London Streets event is for practitioners from London and those from around the UK with an interest in developments in the capital.
Healthy Streets is the successor to the London Cycling Show and Transforming London Streets, this time we will showcase and detail the policy, technical delivery and community engagement that has leads to healthier towns and cities.
It follows the successful 2014 event in Lambeth which attracted over 250 delegates, the London Borough of Waltham Forest's 2015 eventwhich attracted over 300, and the Southwark event in 2016 which attracted 260 delegates.
The transformation of London into a Active Travelling City is underway; Safer junctions, roundabouts, segregated routes comibined with marketing campaigns to increase use are starting to spring up all over London:
The £100m Mini-Hollands Programme has been realised in the three outer Boroughs of Waltham Forest, Enfield and Kingston - each with slightly different objectives and challenges
Work on The Quietway Network with associated juction redesigns and marketing campaign is well underway.
The Cycle Superhighways are on their way to becoming safe cycle expressways through the centre of London
In 2013 the Mayor's Vision for Cycling in London announced that London’s cycling budget would double, to almost £400m over the next three years, or roughly £18 a head, up with the best in Germany.
The successful delivery of this vision depends on London Borough officers, working with TfL and a number local stakeholders. This event is aimed at supporting successful delivery
Delegates at Healthy Streets will have the opportunity share best practice in design, discuss common challenges and opportunities, and network with each other to leave with a better understanding of the issues and possible solutions, with new contacts and some inspiration.
Healthy Streets will feature presentations from the London Borough officers who will be involved implementing schemes such as the London Grid, Quietways, and Mini-Hollands.
This year it is hosted by the London Borough of Waltham Forest and will include plenary sessions, speed networking, workshops, site visits and International Panel discussions.
If paying by invoice: All fees are payable in advance of the event. Delegates may be refused admission if payment is not received prior to the event.
If for any reason you are unable to attend, cancellations received in writing 10 working days before the event will receive a refund less an administrative charge of £100 + VAT. There will be no refunds for cancellations made after this date. Substitutions can be made at any time at no further cost.
