The COVID crisis has highlighted the importance of robust and accessible data and, as we aim to build back better, local authorities need to make more effective use of transport data in order to optimise transport networks, prioritise investment, improve asset maintenance and support future mobility and decarbonisation projects.

The transport data landscape in England remains fragmented, with large amounts of data being collected and stored in silos by both local authorities and the private sector. Whilst the benefits of publishing open data have been demonstrated by Transport for London – where the release of open data has been shown to be generating annual economic benefits and savings of up to £130m a year—this success has not yet been replicated by other local authorities.

This webinar will explore how public authorities can gain better access to public and private sector data across their own and national transport networks, and how they are using it to deliver better transport options across all modes.
