Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) is supporting the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to update its Local Transport Plan (LTP). Following
conversations with residents, employers, business and key stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities facing the region, the LTP is helping TfWM to pin down what a better future transport system looks like – and how to deliver it….
The LTP sets out policies to promote safe, integrated, efficient and economic transport to, from and within its area, as well as plans to implement those policies.
Among these policies is the need to deliver action across ‘6 Big Moves’ to improve accessibility, reduce traffic and electrify transport for the area covered by the West Midlands’ seven metropolitan districts/boroughs.
This gathering will bring together thinkers and leaders from academia, local government and business across different sectors – our collaborators include ecologists, behavioural scientists and planners. What will you bring?
TfWM is keen to share the insights gained from its unique approach to using a combination of approaches (technological, infrastructure, psychological) in solving its big challenges
The two days will feature workshops exploring real-world problems, incubator and sprint sessions and hackathons to generate leads and post-event workstreams
There will be plenty of time for discussion and developing clear takeaways for implementation – the floor will be open to new ideas in the transport arena
There will be demos and deep dives into trials and pilot projects across the transport technology and innovation sector, demonstrating successes and seeking stimulus for further development
