Cambridgeshire County Council has rejected a plan from bus operator Stagecoach to reverse the fortunes of Cambridge’s park-and-ride system, which has seen a 14% fall in ridership since parking charges were introduced.
Stagecoach’s proposal would have seen the £1 parking charge scrapped, adult bus fares increased by 30% and free travel for concessionary passholders abolished.
