Almost 1,800 air quality monitoring sites across the UK breach the EU annual mean limit value for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) of 40 μg/m3, according to analysis by environmental campaign group Friends of the Earth.
FoE found 1,758 breaches in the most recent local authority annual air quality status reports submitted to Government.
The ten worst locations were:
