A joint venture of FirstGroup and Trenitalia has won the DfT’s competition to operate the West Coast Partnership (WCP) franchise, commencing in December and running to 2031.
The franchise encompasses the existing West Coast intercity services and the delivery of the first services on HS2, which is supposed to open at the end of 2026.
From December 2022 passengers will benefit from 263 extra train services every week, with Motherwell becoming a major calling point for most services....
