National Highways (NH) has reported it has saved 55,580 tonnes of carbon from its corporate activities in the 12 months since publishing its net zero plan. But this has been described as a “tiny fraction” of the emissions caused by NH’s £24bn roads programme, argues campaign group Transport Action Network.
Last year NH set net zero targets for corporate emissions by 2030, maintenance and construction emissions by 2040 and road user emissions by 2050.
