Four Network Rail employees have been recognised for their contributions in the King’s New Year Honours list.
Network Rail’s Chief Executive Andrew Haines, who also leads the Great British Railways Transition Team, has received a Knighthood.
Peter Gibbons, Network Rail’s Chief Security Officer, received an MBE for his leadership in delivering the UK’s £10m aid programme to Ukrainian Railways.
Janet Trowse, who worked as a leader in Human Resources for over seven years, also received an MBE. She has spearheaded the Menopause Awareness Project at Network Rail.
Kathleen O’Malley, Project Manager in Network Rail’s Southern Region, has received a BEM for creating the Routes Out of Homelessness charter for the railway.
Other transport figures to be recognised included Carolyn Jane Griffiths, Chair of the Rail Group, Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS). She received an OBE for services to the rail industry, transport safety and the engineering profession.
Shanez Cheytan, Deputy Director, Land Transport National Security at the DfT, received an OBE for services to rail passengers and transport.
Richard Bruce, Director, Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, received a CBE for services to decarbonising transport.
Jessica Uguccioni, Deputy Head of the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles at the DfT, became an MBE for services to the regulation of self-driving vehicles.
Campaigner and former police officer Robert Heard was made an MBE for services to road safety, while Simon Ross, examiner at, IAM and RoSPA BikeSafe received an MBE for services to road safety for motorcyclists.
National Highways’ equality and diversity manager Julian Horsler was made an MBE for services to equality, accessibility and inclusion, while Go South Coast managing director Andrew Wickham received the same award for services to the bus industry.
Southeastern’s Lee Woolcott-Ellis received a BEM for his work establishing a mental health charter to support colleagues across the railway.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan was given a knighthood for political and public service, while Andy Street, who was West Midlands Mayor until his election defeat in May, was knighted for public service.
