Lib Dems call for bus regulation but reject rail renationalisation

The Liberal Democrats oppose returning the rail network to direct state control, but they believe that local government should have greater powers over bus networks.

Speaking at a Transit/Go Ahead-sponsored fringe meeting at last week’s Liberal Democrat Party conference in Bournemouth, Norman Baker, the Lib Dem shadow transport secretary, said renationalisation was the wrong route to take.
