A broad partnership led by Strathclyde Police has seen gang-related crime fall sharply in Glasgow in recent years. Strathclyde Police introduced CIRV (Community Initiative to Reduce Violence) to tackle gang violence in Glasgow, through the force’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) in 2008, first in the city’s East End, and then extending it to the north of the city in 2009.
