Census offenders face prosecution

The Office for National Statistics in England and Wales (ONS) is seeking to prosecute around 400 people for failing to return their 2011 census forms. It is a legal requirement to complete the census every 10 years. In 2001, when the last census was held, there were 43 successful prosecutions. The data was issued after a freedom of information request by BBC Radio 4’s World at One.
