High-speed rail is a great idea but HS2 is being led by the wrong kind of people

High-speed rail is a wonderful way to travel. You can relax, or eat, or do productive work on your computer whilst you travel and your journey is quick. So why is HS2 so unpopular with a very large section of the population? I would like to offer some reasons.

The stations at London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester are inefficient terminal stations whereas best practice dictates through stations. Cities en route are to be served by ‘parkway’ stations away from city centres, whereas...
