Former mayor of Copenhagen Klaus Bondam will be at the London Cycling Show with an account of his own bike-propelled odyssey in the Danish capital. Bondam, who is CEO of the Danish Cyclists’ Federation (DCF), will talk about his mission to “engender greater traffic safety, accessibility, comfort, and richness of experience for people riding bicycles in their everyday life and leisure time”.
Bondam said: “DCF work to get more people on bicycles for the benefit of public health, nature and the environment – and in working to ensure that the bicycle is considered an equal means of transportation and creating greater intermodality.”
Bondam originally trained as an actor and starred in the highly acclaimed first Danish Dogme film Festen in 1997. He later turned to politics, becoming a member of Copenhagen’s City Council from 2002 to 2010 and serving as mayor from 2006 to 2009, during which time he earned the epithet ‘The Bicyclemayor’.
