Council struggles to make the case for removing traffic signals

The mayor of Torbay’s desire to cut the number of traffic signals in the council area seems likely to result in only one junction being converted to a roundabout in the short-term.

Gordon Oliver, Torbay Council’s Conservative elected mayor, asked officers to investigate reducing the number of signalised junctions in the borough, which covers the seaside towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham.
