LGA calls for licensing of ‘novelty vehicles’ such as rickshaws

Uniform licensing controls – including universal criminal record checks on drivers – must be introduced for limousines, party buses, pedicabs and rickshaws to combat safety fears, said the Local Government Association (LGA), which represents over 370 councils in England and Wales.

The LGA warns that current legislation is “confusing” and “utterly outdated”.
