Indian taxi aggregator OlaCabs is preparing to launch car-pooling, shuttle buses and motorcycle taxis, The Times of India claims.
The newspaper says that the plans for new services on top of the Indian market leaders' existing ones, which include an auto-rickshaw aggregation service "could crash into regulatory brick walls as legal frameworks do not exist for them". It says that the new services would further reduce the cost of taxi fares, with Ola's lowest-priced offering Ola Mini, eight rupees (eight pence) per kilometre, and the bike taxis would be along the lines of services in Indonesia.
Uber this week announced UberPool, its car-pooling service, would start with Bangalore, allowing the cost to be split between two people requesting rides along similar routes, in a move it said would lead to fewer cars. OlaCabs did not confirm its plans.
