Merseytravel has shortlisted five train manufacturers to supply a fleet of electric multiple units for use on the Merseyrail Electrics franchise: Bombardier, CAF, Mitsui, Siemens, and Stadler. Tender documents were issued this week and bids are due back by the end of April. A preferred bidder is expected to be selected towards the end of the year.
