The European Commission is to scrap a requirement for at least 10% of transport fuels in all member states to come from renewable energy, such as biofuels, by 2020. The target is contained in the existing Renewable Energy Directive, which requires the EU to achieve 20% of its total energy needs from renewables by 2020.
