Public inquiry to study case for M4 relief road

A public inquiry is to be held into the proposed “black route” for the M4 relief road round Newport, after Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones declared the alternative “blue route” to be a vote loser in the locality.

Labour’s election manifesto for this month’s Assembly elections did not commit to one route or the other but Jones, who was re-appointed First Minister, has ruled out the blue route and said there will be a public inquiry.
