THE NEWS that the HS2 route through South Yorkshire is to be changed is welcome news as Meadowhall was never the best location to serve Sheffield (‘HS2 to serve central Sheffield as Meadowhall faces the chop’ LTT 08 Jul). It is well-known that city centre stations on high-speed railways deliver much better patronage than stations outside. They also generate more new jobs.
