Through traffic ban to improve City’s air?

A busy street in the City of London could be closed to through traffic except ultra-low emission vehicles.

The east-west Beech Street carries about 10,000 vehicle movements a day, of which about  a third are taxis and more than 2,000 freight vehicles. As part of plans for a Low Emission Neighbourhood (LEN) in the Barbican area, the City of London Corporation is exploring closing the street to through traffic or restricting through traffic to ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs)...
