Borders Rail passenger forecasts are so wrong, they’re almost right

Passenger forecasts for stations on the Borders Railway are so wildly inaccurate that the aggregate patronage on the line has ended up close to forecast.

The Borders Railway between Edinburgh and Galashiels/Tweedbank re-opened in September 2015. Reporting passenger numbers for the first year of operations, the ScotRail Alliance said this month that “1.3 million passenger journeys were made, broadly in line with business case projections”.
