Councils in the Glasgow city-region have released £14m to design a tram-train connection to Glasgow Airport.
Renfrewshire Council will prepare a full business case for the rail link to Glasgow Central station. Services would use the existing railway between Glasgow and Paisley Gilmour Street before accessing the airport via a new light rail spur off the Gourock/Wemyss Bay line. Construction could begin in 2022 with the line opening in 2025.
