Move away from police style uniforms differentiates parking staff on the street

When the first traffic wardens took to the streets of London in the 1960s, they were dressed in the black Police uniform of the time, with woollen tunics and trousers, and shiny hats. 

Their yellow epaulettes were the only hint of colour, so these monochrome meter maids and masters cut a severe figure against the backdrop of the Swinging Sixties.
