The frequently cited estimate that air pollution in London accounts for about 9,400 deaths a year is likely to be an overestimate, it has emerged.
The 9,400 estimate comes from the 2015 report – Understanding the health impacts of air pollution in London – by King’s College London’s environmental research group. The report was commissioned by TfL and the Greater London Authority.
